Frederick Frahm is an organist and composer. He studied organ and counterpoint with David Dahl, Randall McCarty and Gregory Peterson, and composition with Gregory Youtz, Gary Smart, and Walter Pelz. Mr. Frahm earned his BM in Church Music and MM in Organ Performance from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. He formerly served as an adjunct faculty member in music composition and theory at Concordia University, River Forest, IL, and now serves as the Director of Music for Saint Pauls Episcopal Parish, Bellingham, WA. Frederick is a composer of music for voice (solo song, song cycle, chamber opera) as well as solo keyboard, chorus, chamber ensemble, and orchestra. He earned Honorable Mention in The William Cullen Bryant Bicentennial Composition Competition, New York) for solo song, was a Finalist in The Stephen Oliver Competition (London) for chamber opera, and Honorable Mention in The Paris New Music Review "60 Seconds for Piano" Composition Competition (The Netherlands) for a piano sonata. He has been awarded commissions from The Cathedral of Saint Matthew, Laramie; The Hymn Society of America, Knoxville; The Pacific Lutheran University Choral Union, Tacoma; Joseph Pettit, The Netherlands; Carson Cooman, Rochester; as well as other parishes and performers throughout the US.
